for rising 2nd - 5th graders.

Summer's nearly here! Come build robots and write video games with us! Our Sligo session offers super-small, super fun activities for beginners and more advanced students ...

Adventures with Robots offers seriously fun, educational and HANDS-ON science enrichment programs to elementary school students in Montgomery County.

And we do it in SMALL GROUPS. This session will have a student-instructor ratio of 6:1 for some classes and 4:1 for others. We find it hard to enjoy these activites in groups of 20!!

And of course, we know they need to run around! Our sessions allow time for that, too.

Track I: Robotics & Crime Science

1pm - 1:50 pm

Robotics for beginners: Learn how to build and program a LEGO bot in our core Adventures with Robots class. We'll cover basic mechanical principles, and introduce the logic your you'll need to write your very first robotics programs with LEGO Education's award-winning drag-and-drop WeDo software. This is a structured class for kids who are new to programming. We provide one netbook and robotics kit for each student.

1:50pm - 2:10pm Break outside

2:10 - 3pm

Crime Science -  help us solve a mystery! We'll use fingerprinting, footprint casting, ink chromotography and hair, fiber and blood analysis to solve a whodunnit! We use the same fingerprinting equipment the pro's use!

Track II - Intro to Mindstorms & Mathletics

1pm - 2:30 pm

Intro to Mindstorms. Have you already learned the basics of programming in WeDo? Or - do you already have a Mindstorms kit and need some help getting started?  Our Mindstorms instructors love teaching this class. On your first day, you'll build a bot. Days 2-5, you'll learn how to program it to move around and react to inputs including motion, touch and color. We provide one netbook and one kit for each student. We need seven kids to form this track. Max = 8.

2:30pm - 3pm Mathletics - math-based ball games on the blacktop. Our staff math tutors teach you mental math tricks, and then reinforce with relay games and other fun activities!

NOTE: Our instructors are adults, not teen-agers. Every one of our instructors has passed a background check, has been fingerprinted, and is certified in both first aid and CPR.

Please see for complete program descriptions. We can't wait to see you this summer!
